18 Months

I know I say this all the time, but I can't believe how fast Owen is growing! Especially lately, I feel like he is quickly running out of things that make him a baby. Sometimes I look at him, like when he sits at the bottom of the stairs to drink his juice or when he's stomping around the playground or when he gives his dad a high five after tickling me, and my heart skips a beat when I realize how big he is getting. It makes me sad. But it also makes me happy beyond measure. I never could have imagined how fun a toddler could be. It definitely starts becoming more rewarding.

Owen is seriously such a good kid.
he still LOVES (and probably always will) anything outside.
he loves cars, ma-mas (lawn mowers), and skies (airplanes)
he loves shoes, and going bu-byeeee
he can point to his eyes, nose, teeth, ears, hair, tummy, and bum-bum
he thinks that in his hiding place between the book shelf and wall, no on can see him.
he loves baths and all his bath toys
he is obsessed with books. he'd take them over toys anyday
he's is constantly bringing me books to read,
and he's learned that if he gives me a kiss I can't tell him no.
his favorite food is fruit snacks, and any kind of fruit.
but he also loves soda and treats :(
he has become the pickiest eater and we're having a hard time finding things that he'll eat
he loves feeling dizzy. he spins in circles until he falls down
and he can't get enough of his dad spinning him around.
when we tickle the back of his neck he freezes and tilts his head down, like a cat
he thinks that "I love you" means kisses.
he loves his bed, and has a hard time sleeping anywhere else
when he gets tired, he gets SOO happy and hyper
also when he gets tired he pretends to sleep by laying on the floor and snoring
every single morning we sit on the couch, drink milk, eat a banana and watch curious george.
he love, love, loves who-hee (Gracie) a little girl we babysit,
he wakes up saying "who-hee!!" and she can get him laughing more than I've ever seen
he has become so independent and wants to do things himself.
he loves to play with my hair things while I get ready in the morning,
he thinks that he is SO pretty when he puts them in his hair.
he is also so smart. i'm pretty sure he's smarter than most kids his age,
but maybe i'm a little biased.
he knows and can point out shapes.
that's smart, right?!

goodness, I could just go on and on about this kid. he has a way of bringing joy to all those around him and is constantly making everyone laugh.
even if i'm having the worst of days, I can't help but smile when I look at him.
he so aware of things going on around him, which sometimes makes me nervous. I need to be more careful of what I do and say around him.
this is definitely my favorite age so far, but I have a feeling i'm going to be saying that forever :)

Our Day at the Zoo

I've been so excited all summer to take owen to the zoo.
although i'll admit, he didn't seem quit as impressed as i had hoped we all still loved it.
i think next year will be even more fun.
hannah came with us, and great grandpa sam came and hung out for the first little bit
we went to the bird show and then he went home and we continued on to see all the other animals.

sorry about the picture overload, i couldn't decide which ones to use... :)

^^ the size of a juvenile. this monkey is right on track.

^^ owen loved getting "bubbles" as grandpa called them on the back of his neck

^^ and he loved watching the birds

^^ some of our favorite animals, especially the "oh-oh-ah-ahs"

^^ but i think his favorite part was playing with the manhole.

^^ and chasing the rooster

^^and he definitely wasn't too impressed when we made him sit on the big gorilla.

other favorites not pictured were the snakes ("ssss...")
he's been obsessed with them ever since.
dip n dots, and getting lunch with aunt hannah and playing at her house afterwards.

Onion Dayzz

My favorite holiday has got to be Labor day weekend,
which also happens to be my town's Onion Days.
Last year I had to work through almost the whole thing,
so this year I was ready to soak it all up.

The festivities start on Friday night with the
annual fiesta at my parents house.
my parents are AH-MAZING cooks,
especially Mexican.
I look forward to it all year.
chimichangas
taquitos
smothered burritos
brazilian limeade
homemade salsa
mmmm

after stuffing ourselves, we head over to the jr high for the fireworks.
they were exceptionally awesome this year
owen was very impressed

on monday, we go to the onion days parade.
we have the coolest uncle Al who makes sure everyone gets
PLENTY of candy.
i think people try to sit near us every year just for
the crazy man who throws candy out of his cart between floats

^^ Owen wasn't sure about us letting him sit in the back

after the parade we went to g.g. and grandpa bob's for a bbq
and then hit up the park to look at the booths and watch the entertainment.
owen got sooo tired at the park, he ended up falling asleep in my arms,
which hardly ever happens.
i soaked it up, and may or may not have held him on the short car ride home ;)

^^ check out those lashes!

we went home and put him to bed at 5
i wanted to wake him up at 8 to eat dinner and take a bath
to make sure he wouldn't wake up super early,
but he would have none of it.
so we let him sleep.
clark and his brother watched some lame boy movie downstairs,
and i got to relax and watch some Private Practice upstairs.
the perfect ending to the perfect long weekend :)
